The 8th Grade Band was honored to perform at the school’s Veterans Day Assembly, helping to recognize and celebrate the brave men and women who have served our country. Students performed Armed Forces March as a musical tribute to our veterans, expressing appreciation for their service, sacrifice, and dedication.
We are deeply grateful for our veterans and all that they have done to protect our freedoms. It was a meaningful opportunity for our students to show their respect and gratitude through music, and we were proud to contribute to such an important and reflective event.

JCS Bands Holiday Concert 2025

The Middle School Holiday Band Concert, held in December, was a wonderful celebration of music and a fitting conclusion to the first half of the school year for our band program. The evening featured performances by the 6th Grade Band, 7th Grade Band, 8th Grade Band, and the High School Wind Ensemble, showcasing the growth, dedication, and talent of students across all grade levels.
Audiences enjoyed a wide variety of holiday favorites, highlighted by the High School Wind Ensemble’s energetic and festive performance of the classic Sleigh Ride. Each ensemble performed with enthusiasm and musical excellence, reflecting the hard work and commitment students have demonstrated throughout the semester.
We are incredibly proud of every ensemble that performed and grateful for the continued support of our band families and the Jackson community.

7th Grade Band Tour

Our 7th Grade Band Tour to all three elementary schools was a tremendous success! On Friday, March 20th, our 7th Grade Band had the opportunity to travel to each elementary building and perform for all 5th grade students in Jackson City Schools. The group showcased their hard work and musical growth with performances of Star Wars, Revenge of the Dust Bunnies, and A Little Bit of Swing.

In addition to the performances, this tour served as an introduction to band for our soon-to-be middle school students. As 5th graders prepare to wrap up their elementary experience, we wanted to highlight band as an exciting and rewarding opportunity awaiting them next year. Students were introduced to the various instruments of the band, with the help of our high school Tri-M members, who provided engaging demonstrations and answered questions about each instrument.

It was a fantastic day of music, mentorship, and connection across grade levels. Based on the enthusiasm and interest we saw from the 5th graders, the future of our middle school band program looks incredibly bright.

Spring Fling!

The Jackson City Schools Band Program had a fantastic turnout for this year’s Spring Fling, as the 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Bands performed for a packed house. The evening opened with the 6th Grade Band, who performed March Across the Seas, Banana Boat Song, and Indigo Rock. The 7th Grade Band followed with an exciting set that included Star Wars, Little Bit of Swing, and a Jackson Band classic, Revenge of the Dust Bunnies. The 8th Grade Band closed the individual performances with beautiful renditions of The Water is Wide and Legend of the Eagles.
To conclude the evening, every band student in Jackson City Schools joined together on stage for a special Mega Band performance. With more than 350 students playing together, the group performed two fan favorites, Rock Point 5 and Hang On Sloopy, creating a powerful and memorable finale that celebrated the dedication and talent of our band students.

8th Grade Band - Spring Concert

The 8th Grade Band put on an outstanding performance at their Spring Concert, showcasing all of their hard work and growth throughout the year. They played with confidence, energy, and a maturity beyond their years, earning well-deserved praise from the audience. What made the evening even more special was that they shared the evening with all three high school bands, giving them the chance to not only perform for them but also to listen to their performances as well. It was a memorable night that highlighted the talent, dedication, and bright future of these young performers. They also shared the stage with trumpet professor from Ohio University, Dr. Maximillian McNutt, as he performed a trumpet concerto accompanied by beginning band entitled Frostfire.
